Instructional Designer - Capital Group/Mathys+Potestio

Dates of Contract: March 2021 - Current

  • On contract as an instructional Designer to Capital Group/American Funds.

  • Storyboard, design, develop, edit, and test eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline and Review 360, Adobe Captivate, and NovoEd.

  • Upload and test courses in Learning Management System (LMS) and solicit feedback from vested leaders and subject matter experts.

  • Lead developer for annual Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance course taken by employees globally.

Instructional Designer - USAA/Peyton Resource Group

Dates of contract: April 2019 - March 2021

  • Contracted as an Instructional Designer to USAA on the Corporate Risk & Compliance Team under Michael Bingham and Brian Mulliner in a remote capacity with minimal supervision.

  • Tasked with editing courses for grammar, syntax, and adherence to the USAA style guide before a course would go live in the production environment.

  • Deconstructed complex material with advice from Subject Matter Experts (SME) and converted the content into interactive learning experiences to ensure engagement, understanding, and application.

  • Designed, developed, scripted, edited, and tested eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline 360, Review 360, and Adobe Photoshop.

  • Recorded voiceover audio narration in my home studio to be used in eLearning courses for myself and for other instructional designers on my team. Raw audio files were edited using Adobe Audition and Audacity.

  • Designed the following USAA courses: Policy on Policies and Policy Document Management System (PDMS), Issue Management Standards, Enterprise Operational Risk Management Framework and Standards, Sensitive Data Management, Fraud/Elder Financial Exploitation/Identity Theft Awareness, European Whistleblowing, Life and Health Fraud Awareness, etc.

  • Edited PowerPoint presentations utilizing strict guidelines for USAA Board of Directors training.


Technical Design & Development - SWBC

Dates of employment: January 2016 - April 2019

  • Utilized the ADDIE Model to develop, create, and lead the execution of training initiatives and resources that support critical business initiatives, drive corporate growth, increase employee productivity, retention, and contribute to overall employee satisfaction.

  • Designed, developed, scripted, edited, tested, and published eLearning modules, job aids, and classroom facilitation learning materials (on-screen and printed) utilizing tools such as Articulate Storyline 2, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Audition, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint, and GoAnimate/Vyond.

  • Provide voiceover talent for narrated courses.

  • Assessed training needs with managers, directors, VPs, and subject matter experts to meet employee development goals and guide implementation of training plans and solutions.

  • Primary subject matter expert for all levels of leadership staff within the Workday module launches such as: recruiting, talent management, benefits, performance appraisals, annual compensation changes, employee changes (transfers, promotions, terminations), expense reporting, and project management.

  • Lead content developer and instructor-led facilitator for the following courses: Workday, Zendesk (external customer service ticketing system), Service-Now (service desk ticketing system), MetricStream (Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery), Encompass (mortgage software).

  • Senior facilitator and content editor for the Lender Placed Operations business unit within the Financial Institution Group.

  • Selected by the Association for Talent Development as a Top 4 Facilitator in San Antonio during a “Throwdown” style competition in 2018.


Workday Consultant - Deacon Recruiting

Dates of contract: October 2015 - January 2016

  • Contracted to SWBC to train company executives and front-line management into their new Workday environment.

  • Human Capital management modules included manager self-services, recruiting, hiring, job offers, time, time management, etc. were initially released followed by Financial Data Models, procurement, and purchasing.

  • On contract for four months prior to being offered a full-time job within SWBC.


Manager, New Talent Development - Rackspace

Dates of employment: February 2008 - August 2015 (this position was held from Feb 2021 - August 2015)

  • Responsible for hiring and onboarding all new account managers, sales consultants, Linux/Windows System Administrators, and Network Security Administrators that were hired between San Antonio and Austin offices.

  • Performed quality audits of new hire employees to ensure adequacy and effectiveness of training programs.

  • Responsible for completing company-wide Account Manager calibration for merit increases and promotions.

  • Compiled reporting of onboarding programs for senior leadership and disseminate company-wide class offerings.

  • Developed training curriculum and program materials for onboarding for all of San Antonio and Austin offices.

  • Designed and built eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline to facilitate in-person courses in a remote setting for employees who worked outside of our San Antonio Headquarters facility.

Sr. Account Manager - Rackspace

Dates of employment: February 2008 - August 2012 (this position was held from February 2008 - March 2012)

  • Built and maintained relationships on a book of business of ~300 existing install base accounts valued at ~$750,000.

  • Creatively solved account issues and negotiated renewal requests that satisfied customer needs and abided by Rackspace policies.

  • Identified needs for additional hardware, and orchestrated maintenance to implement upgrades.

  • Assisted customers and fellow teammates in problem resolution using multiple departments within Rackspace.

Retail Store Manager - Verizon Wireless

Dates of employment: August 2004 - December 2007

  • Developed a staff of 12-15 employees to produce performance results with a high-performance sales force to achieve monthly gross add quotas, roll up quotas, and KPI standards.

  • Assisted the district manager with interviewing candidates for all San Antonio retail locations, hiring, continuing education, and developing representatives across the Greater San Antonio region.

  • Managed a $750,000 inventory to meet compliance standards and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

  • Implemented national marketing strategies and ensured store merchandising compliance.

  • Utilized as the mentor store manager to develop all future managers across the city.
